Description
This charcuterie board has been professionally handcrafted to showcase the natural beauty that exists within the very fibers of the wood. It has a special story; Between 1879 and 1882 E.D.Tillson (1st Mayor of Tillsonburg and son of George Tillson, Founder of Tillsonburg) planted 250 Maple Trees. This Tree was planted on the shore of Lake Lisgar and grew to an incredible size. Measuring a massive 7’ in diameter at breast height, this tree was laden with unique burls and ingrown bark. After storm damage and extensive rot, this tree was removed for safety reasons. Much of the lumber was too rotten to be used, but what could be salvaged was expertly sawn from the tree’s large buttresses that extended up the trunk. This distinct growth has resulted in complex figure in the wood grain further enhanced by the unique spalting. The Lisgar Maple was truly one of a kind and its memory will continue to live on in this board.
